Trauma Treatment
(Stage 2 DBT Treatment)
The Dialectical Behavior Therapy Prolonged Exposure (DBT PE) protocol is designed to treat PTSD among suicidal, self-injuring, and multi-diagnostic adolescents and adults receiving DBT. The DBT PE protocol is based on Prolonged Exposure (PE) therapy, a highly effective treatment for PTSD that utilizes in vivo and imaginal exposure followed by processing as the core treatment strategies. The integrated DBT and DBT PE protocol treatment uses a stage-based approach to comprehensively address the full range of problems experienced by high-risk, severe, and complex clients with PTSD.
Psycho-education & Consultation Services
Navigating relationships with someone struggling with Borderline Personality Disorder (BPD) or problems with Emotional Dysregulation can be challenging. With this in mind, ROCDBT offers Family Psycho-Education and Consultation Sessions designed to equip individuals and families with the skills necessary to better support and understand those struggling with these conditions.
During these sessions individuals and family members will have the opportunity to:
Learn strategies to effectively validate both themselves and loved ones; enhancing emotional resilience and empathy.
Improve communication skills and hone the ability to convey thoughts and feelings in a direct, clear, and compassionate manner.
Gain insights into how to offer support during moments of emotional dysregulation and enhancing coping mechanisms in crisis situations.
Deepen understanding of your loved one's behaviors and emotions while facilitating more effective responses and interactions.
Become acquainted with the basics of Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) and gain practical skills for everyday application.
Expand your understanding of BPD and Emotional Dysregulation by learning how these conditions are maintained over time and how to better manage their impact on relationships.
DBT Informed Couples
Therapy
DBT informed couples therapy adapts the techniques of comprehensive DBT into skills you can use to manage out-of-control emotions that negatively impact your relationship. Using mindfulness techniques to bring awareness to maladaptive patterns and distress tolerance techniques to regulate emotional intensity, couples will learn how to de-escalate conflict and engage through the urge to avoid. Couples will also learn new communication strategies to promote acceptance and closeness within the relationship.
An alternative to a Social Emotional Learning (SEL) curriculum without limitations! A universal curriculum that teaches emotion management strategies, decision making skills, and interpersonal skills at the individual level. Originally developed for non-clinicians to teach at a Tier 1 level, students are taught skills with a high degree of specificity and with explicit definitions that are geared towards issues and stressors that children and teens face. Drawn from Dialectical Behavior Therapy, which is based on the biosocial theory of pervasive emotional dysregulation. Preliminary outcome research supports effectiveness in middle school and high school settings

Steps to Getting Back to School Class:
Skills Training for Emotional Problem Solving (STEPS) to help with school refusal
STEPS to Getting Back to School is a psycho-educational class based on the DBT in Schools STEPS-A curriculum and is customized specifically to teach skills that help with school refusal. The class is a 9 week sequence of lessons that covers topics such as Mindfulness and Reality Acceptance.
STEPS to Getting Back to School is not a therapy group and will not provide therapeutic services of any kind. It is highly encouraged that students who need therapeutic services have outside mental health providers. While the lessons of this curriculum are based in DBT skills, it is not part of the comprehensive DBT program nor is it a comprehensive skills group.
